What better way to kick things off on my new blog than by celebrating International Women’s Day? For me, Women’s Day is about celebrating females of every shape, size and colour, and revelling in the fact that we can be whomever and whatever we want — even when some try to tell us otherwise.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, here are a few of my favourite inspiring quotes from some amazing women.
“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a women.” – Margaret Thatcher
“Of course I am not worried about intimidating men. The type of man who will be intimidated is exactly the type of man I have no interest in.” – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
“Women are the real architects of society.” – Cher
“I have not lived as a woman. I have lived as a man. I’ve just done what I damn well wanted to, and I’ve made enough money to support myself, and ain’t afraid of being alone.” – Katharine Hepburn
“A cultural fixation on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty but an obsession about female obedience.” – Naomi Wolf
“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.” – Jane Austen
“In Pakistan, when we were stopped from going to school, at that time I realized that education … Is the power for women, and that’s why the terrorists are afraid of education.” – Malala Yousafzai
Whether you prefer to walk in high-heeled pumps or oxfords, be whomever you wish to be and own it.
Happy International Women’s Day!
